Cats on Porch by Deborah GreggMaybe there were a few days yet back in December when I could spend time working or just taking a break on the porch (very few by that time and I was bundled up pretty good) and it’s hard to believe it but winter is officially over now and porch weather has returned once again. I love my front porch — it’s a cozy three season room for me and it’s wonderful to be able to spend time there again. Sitting there having a cup of tea I heard a Flicker, a Killdeer, and Chipping Sparrows all back for the summer and calling their spring songs as flock after flock of joyful, chatty geese were flying high overhead going north. I noticed swelling buds on the climbing rose (surprisingly little winter damage) and was even visited by a few ladybugs. Spring with its fresh beauty and spirit of new life never seems to last long enough. Happy spring everyone!!!

The year’s at the spring
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hillside’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn;
God’s in His heaven –
All’s right with the world!
