Just a quick note to let everyone know that it’s Pollinator Week! (June 20-26 2011) According to Burt’s Bees these 35 states celebrate it officially:

AL, AZ, AK, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, KS, LA, MD, MI, MS, MO, MT, NE, NM, NC, ND, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI

…and if yours isn’t on the list (like mine) you can download the paperwork necessary here to ask your Governor to declare it in your state. But you don’t have to wait for your state to sign up to celebrate the world’s bee population and help it to survive. There are all kinds of little things you can do like plant a patch or a pot of flowers, make your backyard bee-friendly, donate money to the cause, or even host a screening of the movie documentary The Vanishing of the Bees narrated by Ellen Page (see the trailer below).

Donate $150 and get this cute little limited edition Helen Ficalora Bee Charm Necklace and Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom

“To make a prairie

it takes a clover and one bee.

One clover, and a bee.

And revery.”
