Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service: for $10/mo you get a small makeup bag filled with a mix of about 5 products, mostly samples but often 1 or 2 full-sized options.
Not all Ipsy bags are exactly the same — there is a basic customization process based on a short style questionnaire that further evolves as you review and rate the products you receive.
(This month’s bag is reversible!)You can see all my Ipsy reviews here.
And without further ado, here’s what I got:
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant, $10 Love this. I haven’t had a chance to try this yet but I am definitely interested in doing so. This stuff is fairly expensive ($78 for a full-sized 2oz tube) and my skin does usually benefit from exfoliation products.
Emite Tweezers, $25+? Seems like a high value for tweezers but that’s what I found! They’re from a Sweden company and aren’t actually available here in the States. They do seem like nice tweezers, however, and it’s a tool I’ll definitely use. They came in a nice little tube case with rubber tip protectors and everything. Woo hoo.
Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick, $3 Ugh, so cute! And a totally okay color for me too. Unfortunately the formula is terrible — goes on like a gloss but quickly dries into a gross cakey mess. Maybe it’s just my body chemistry (I don’t do well with regular lipstick either), but this stuff is awful.
Dose Color Pill Nail Polish in ‘Stormy’, $6 More super cute packaging! Like an enormous gelcap pill, ha. And the description is awesome: “…an edgy, hauntingly beautiful grey-violet, with an ever so slightly veil of mineral iridescence.” I think this type of purple is trending right now, and it is a very pretty shade, but it’s only okay on my skin tone — tends to make me look a bit blue. I might try it out yet this winter though, we’ll see!
Just a fun photo to show that these three items are all super tiny, in a cute way. The tweezer is typical tweezer size — look how much smaller the other two are! (Although I apparently didn’t line their bottoms up very well.)
November Alter Ego makeup bag: Nice, but not my favorite. Mostly because I am not a particular fan of gold or black patent leather. But it’s classic and simple, and also a more square shape than previous bags, which is a nice change.
Total value: $50 (not counting the makeup bag) Great for the $10 price tag, and a lot more than last month’s low. I’m happy with the mix this month, and especially looking forward to the microdermabrasion scrub.
