It is so hot here in Nebraska right now. The heat index is 108° as I write. I think the word is “stifling.” If you are able the thing to do is head for the coast! The cool, salty ocean breeze will lift your spirits. A suggestion is the Berry Manor Inn, an award winning luxury bed and breakfast located on the southern Maine coast in Rockland. Certified by the state of Maine as an environmental leader in the hospitality industry it’s historical, romantic, and voted one of the top ten best B&B’s in the United States. They serve an amazing breakfast and have a “Guest Pantry” for you to rifle around in for ice cream or a piece of their famous pies, made by the equally famous “Pie Moms”seen on the Food channel. At Berry Manor you will want for nothing, and it’s just a hop and a skip (that’s right, you can hop and skip around there, no one cares!) to an overwhelming selection of things to do. “Rockland has been named the 2007 & 2010 Top Adventure Town to Live and Play In by National Geographic magazine. It is no surprise considering this town is the self-proclaimed Lobster Capital of the world, home to the largest fleet of historic schooners, and a featured stop on the Maine Art Museums Trail, the Maine Birding Trail, Maine Golf Trail, Maine Touring Trail and an epicurean hub featuring regional, ethnic and organic delights.”
I would take one of the adventure boats and watch all the marine life and I also would love to visit the several lighthouses in the area. Just thinking about it is making me feel a little cooler!
