We are all guilty of it, apathy. There needs to be a big change in the way we think and act about our environment. The weak and slow to act Environmental Protection Agency is a huge part of the problem, it needs new faces new energy and some type of commitment to what it stands for. We need to demand they clean house and do a better job. And the list of companies and corporations that just don’t care (it’s all about the money for these people) seems to go on forever… Monsanto, Coca Cola, the oil companies, Nestlé, Pfizer, and Walmart? Yes. And there are many hundreds more because we the consumers don’t seem to care. We have only ourselves to blame. If we demanded something else and backed it up with our buying habits a quiet revolution would happen and we would all be living in a cleaner, safer, healthier world (our American consumer-based society affects the whole world).
So make a change. Every month add a few more things to the list of what you can do, what you won’t buy (boycotting products is powerful and it’s easy to find these toxic offenders on the net so if you can write them a short email saying that you won’t buy their products and why), use less power, less water, buy American whenever you can, eat organic (eliminate herbicides and pesticides in your yard and buy only organic fertilizers — good news! Because of demand “Miracle Gro” now offers an organic garden fertilizer made from beet sugar!), raise your own vegetables, speak up, call your representatives and Senators and be heard, read articles, and keep up to date on what’s going on out there.
Make time to make a difference because we are running out of time.
